Annonce officielle :

Tēnā Koutou Katoa,

We are delighted to announce our upcoming seminar at 1pm Thursday 5th December (UTC +13).

This will be held in person in 507-G135.

Please join us in welcoming, Daniel Curnier; Full Professor; Laboratory of Exercise Physiopathology; School of Kinesiology and Physical Activity Sciences; Faculty of Medicine; University of Montreal.

Daniel will also be joining us for his sabbatical next year – so please get in touch if you would like an introduction.

Born on a farm in the south of France, Professor Curnier was first a farmer before returning to school late in life and obtaining his Ph.D. in Physical Activity Sciences in 2000. After 2 post-doctorates in the United States and Canada focused on cardiac rehabilitation, he became a professor at the University of Toulouse before obtaining a position at the University of Montreal in 2008. He specialized in the study of acute and chronic responses in onco and cardio-paediatrics. He is one of the founders of the VIE program, which is now being implemented in all paediatric oncology institutions in Quebec.

His presentation will document the foundations of his intervention program in changing health behaviours (nutrition, physical activity and mental health) in paediatric oncology. An analysis of the health status of young survivors will help understand the need to implement such a program to limit the occurrence of comorbidity impacting the survival and long-term health of this population. He will dissect the innovative aspects of physical activity programming based on a precision medicine approach and demonstrate how the training prescription algorithm works. Finally, the aspects of co-construction and pan-Quebec implementation of this intervention will be discussed as well as the challenges encountered and expected.
